FAQ's

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What is a Cobra CMM?

A Cobra CMM is the ultimate “In Process Gage”. In its basic design, the Cobra is a true 3 dimensional measuring machine, measuring in 3 axis, combined with state of the art electronics and 3D software.  Its main function is to measure 3-D objects with extreme accuracy.

Who needs a CMM?

Any entity who produces or manufactures parts or assemblies, who needs to monitor, and verify that the production process integrity is intact and meets the quality standards demanded by their customers, and consequently, the consumer. Essentially, anyone who needs to make sure that their manufactured parts are true and accurate to specifications.

What are Cobras applications?

The Cobra CMM is the perfect verifier of machining or production procedures. It is the perfect “In Process Gage”, having its primary place next to the CNC machining centers or cells, to verify that the features machined, do meet the required specifications. Rather than a CNC operator sending his or her part to the QC lab, which is most often over burdened, the operator can now be responsible in making sure that his or her work meets the dimensions and tolerances required. This approach is the path to “Zero Defects”, which is the dream of every manager and owner. The Cobra CMM is built with the “Non Controlled” environment in mind, and will operate smoothly and accurately at temperature variances that other CMMs cannot hold accuracies in. The Cobra CMM will also find its place in any other machine shop or manufacturing facility, due to its advanced design and capability features that are at a price that is very affordable. The Cobra will become the house hold name of the machining and metrology industry.

What is a Cobra DMM?

The Cobra DMM (Diametric Measuring Machine) is a basic Cobra CMM, but is expanded to serve primarily the turning industry. It has the same basic structure of the Cobra CMM but has been expanded to include precision fixed and air operated centers. The DMM is a true 3 dimensional piece of equipment that will meet all the requirements of all turning and machining processes. Its special feature will allow it to be used to measure centered or center less parts.

Who needs a DMM?

Any entity engaged in producing round or turned parts i.e. the turning, chucker, and screw machine industry.

What are the Cobra DMM applications?

The DMMs purpose is to verify the consistency of turned parts produced by the same operator in charge of the machining process. The operator should have “Pride of Ownership” of his or her machining process. It will definitely add to his or her credentials and will generate pride in performance. Again, zero defect being the goal with all of our Cobra products.

What are the applications for our Digital Height Gage?

Our digital height gage, the Height Master, serves a primary purpose, the quick check of simple features during the production process, to verify dimensions. The digital function key driven display has many advantages over the height gages of yesteryear. It not only measures features as, step to step, height –length, but also has the capability to measure, IDs, ODs, radius, slots, squareness, and flatness. The data is displayed on a touch pad display console. The display offers the capability of uploading data via the RS 232 interface to computers for statistical analysis. It is battery powered and has a built in air compressor for easy movement on a surface plate. The up down motion is manual or automatic, and under motor control to assure consistent measurement contact pressure. It achieves high accuracies with repeatabilities of 1.5 microns.

What are the limitations of a height gage?

It is basically a one – two- axis measuring instrument, capable of performing rudimentary measuring functions. It is a very efficient, and accuratly dependable instrument for any machine shop, tool shop, or assembly line. It is very economically priced relative to its performance.

What are the advantages of the Cobra DMM and CMM?

Point of process verification, flexible, moveable, and top quality performance. The Cobra incorporates the latest advances of technology, and above all, it is priced right and very affordable. All of our products, and their performance are 100% supported by Micron-X.
